From Narrative to Game

This was my masters program admissions writing sample that I used to show off just how well I would do in a writing program that focused on research.  It is actually a severe update to this paper, and it is not the paper I wanted to write (#2 here).  When I read over my original paper, I balked at how bad my writing was, and how much my direction had changed since then.  That had been my first paper as a games scholar, and now that I’ve absorbed a lot more readings and others’ opinions, my own opinions have changed.  This paper reflects this growth.  I still have issues with the first section of the paper, but I was pretty time crunched when I wrote it.  I had to keep the definition sections in place to fill out the text.  I also knew that much of my reasoning was sound in that section, as I probably spent the most time creating the definitions in the original paper.

The crunchy paper may be downloaded here, or you can enjoy the crunchy text on its own page.
